SNVS (Solar-Nocturnal-Virtual-Simulation) is the alias of artist and perennial nomad Clifford Hudson. He also produces music as ‘SNUISE’.
‘Omnislash’ is his latest EP, and first with True Indigo. Below are his words regarding the release:
“Living in the Bay Area, you often feel like you are living on the edge. On the edge of water and land, the edge of a mountain, on the edge of two vibrant cities, but also on the edge of sleeping on the street or sleeping in an actual bed. Sometime during the summer and autumn, this music was produced. ‘Omnislash’ was made during a time of heightened uncertainty and growth, somewhere between East Oakland and San Francisco.
Things were moving fast when I made this, and I think I captured some of the energy of that era in this music. I was having trouble writing the dreamy, half-asleep half-awake instrumentals I was comfortable with. That led to a shortened alias, and a stripped down work flow that was self imposed. I was forced out of my comfort zone by community, by loved ones, by my life....and a bit by the curiosity of what I could make at 160BPM.
Nostalgia for 90’s RPG video games and culture is mixed in here some moments. In others that feeling of searching for solace, waiting for the madness to subside. There are touches of ambient, maybe a hint of Techno, or Sonic the Hedgehog. Flashes of Juke, interpretations of Chicago Footwork, but from 2,000 miles away in the Bay Area. Amongst it all, I hope you find a moment you connect with.”
